On larger bass boats, I believe all of the batteries are stored in the back compartment. This includes the ones for the bow mount trolling motor. I currently have a 55lb Minn Kota Powerdrive V2. The cable is only about 4' long. The part that connects to the actual battery is a small circle (this is what it looks like:  

 

I can't figure out how it is supposed to attach to the actual battery. I am trying to figure that out, as well as extend the cord so that i can keep the batteries at the back of the boat and balance the weight out better.

Snip the ring terminal off that end and get some 6g or 4g MARINE wire depending on the length of the run. Run the new wire to the back of the boat up to the TM. Solder and heat shrink the connections between the TM power cord and the wire extension . 12v systems need larger wire than 24v systems.  You will need a 60a breaker near the battery on the hot wire for the trolling motor.

Bow mount trolling motors are seldom hard wired all the way to the battery. Normally, the motor wires are connected to a plug, and the receptacle is hard wired back to the battery. 

Unless you re wired your bass boat it should already have the proper wire and circuit breakers from the battery compartment to the bow receptacle.
