Okuma TCS vs St Croix Bass X

Featured Replies

Which one should I get???

I have St Croix and TCS rods, but without a LOT more info, I can't recommend one over the other

Will buy one for frogs/jigs/heavier stuff my spinning rod can’t handle. Probably around 7’3 Heavy.

I am not much help with that.

I have a TCS 7'11" H that I recommend for the value, if that's what you need.   I would gladly buy another TCS, but would want to handle it first, if only because the Mat Daddy that I have may not be a good representative of 7'3" TCS.

I have not handled the St Croix Bass X model line.  (I own a number of St Croix rods and I wouldn't hesitate to send anybody to their lines of rods.  So, they probably make a $100 rod that is as good as anyone else's $100 rod.)

Highly recommend that you get your hands on them before you buy, if possible.  The handles/grips are different and the balance may be a lot different in your hands.

I have that exact model of TCS, very nice rod, would highly suggest it. Makes a great jig rod too.

Cool. What line do u use?

I have the 7'3'' heavy Okuma TCS as well and it is a great frog rod. Also surprisingly sensitive (I used it out of desperate once with braid and I was very positively surprised)!

Okuma tcs is best looking rod Ive ever used.

I loved mine.

Scott Martin legit uses them and won FLW with them and Jacob Wheeler has won BASS tournys with them.

Thanks for the comments. I ordered the Okuma and can’t wait to use it. It’s nice to hear from fellow anglers who have the actual rod. Thank you friends!

I am not sure if the pros use the exact same blank that we regular guys can buy, but I nevertheless agree that the TCS is a nice stick for the money!
