TM and electronics on a canoe

Featured Replies

So I picked up a 30lb thrust MK at a local garage sale for $5 because it "didn't work".  I replaced the corroded battery clamps and it runs great. I do have a question for all you canoe/kayak/jon boat guys running a TM and electronics.  Can I run both off of the same deep cycle battery or is it wise to get a second smaller one for the electronics?   I have an older grayscale Lowrance X-4 unit if it makes any difference.

You may run into interference on graph, so it's best to runoff a smaller, separate battery.

Probably be best to run 2 batteries but I would try one first and see how well it works. I ran a jon boat for years with just one battery for tm and fish finder.

Try it, if you get interference when running the TM, get a small 12V battery like for lawn mower, even one of the Game Feeder batteries will probably run it all day.

I also ran a trolling motor and depthfinder with the same battery with no problems.
