Recently I’ve been getting into throwing some bigger Swimbaits, so far I’ve only thrown some cheap baits and now that I’ve developed enough confidence in throwing 5”-7” baits I want to get a dedicated setup for them. I plan on starting out mostly throwing the 5”-7” bull shad, some s-waver 168’s, 5” slow sink smash-techs, hudd 68’s etc. so 1-3oz baits for the most part. The only rod I’ve really looked at is the dobyns fury 795. Give me some recommendations on a good setup!

For those specific baits I think you'd be quite pleased with the 795. I bought the Champion version of that rod years ago and it handles all of those baits quite well. I also have the Fury 806, but it's more rod than you need for most of those baits. A lot of people also like Okuma and iRod on here, but I do not have any experience with either of those rods.

Sounds like the Fury is the way to go, I've got the 8' Fury and it's a bit overkill, so the 7'9 would be better suited. You may also consider the Okuma Guide Select rods, they're around the same price point. 

I love my Daiwa DXSB rod and have it paired to a Tatula HD. I cast baits up to 6oz on this bad boy.

That Fury will work. The Guide Select are very nice rods as well. I have one of each and they both work well. 

Sounds like I’m gonna be pickin up the dobyns! ? any suggestions on a good reel? I plan on using 20# Andes  until the huge spool I have is gone and then switching to 20# cxx

That new Lew's SuperDuty 300, wowza. A Lexa is a good start too, or any round style reels are popular as well. 

Fury 806, Daiwa tatula 200 HD and line of your choice. Will throw everything with that one set up. The 795 is only good for so much.

Curious what thoughts there are on using a BPS Bionic Blade 7'6" H/F to throw Swimbaits up to 2oz (it's rated 3/8 to 2oz)? Would this rod significantly under perform dedicated swimbait rods out there? Would it be a good (or at least acceptable) starting point?
