The ceramic insert came out of my rod tip a few months ago. They sent me a replacement tip and whammo, a couple months later it's gone again. I'd really like to find a different brand tip to replace it with but not sure on the size, particularly one I can order quickly off of Amazon. I'm thinking it's either a size 4 or size 6, anyone know for sure? As I understand it the Triumph is the mexican made version of the Premier. It's 6'6".

Would St Croix customer service not be the best source of info on this? 

 

 The biggest issue is the size of the tube, not the ring.  The tube must be just a little bigger than the OD of the blank at at the tip.  As long as the ring is fairly close to that of the running guides, it will be OK.  I always use SIC ring material for tiptops as that is the guide that will groove the quickest.  Tubes are sized in 64'ths of an inch or in mm's, and rings are sized in 64th's with the size being the OD of the ring, not the ID of the ring.

 

If you were to order a tiptop with the ring size the same as the running guides, or close, and the tube size just larger than the OD of the blank at the tip, you will have it.  (get the same finish as the guides).

Is the Triumph still within warranty?  I just had the tip snap off my Mojo Bass 3 eyelets down when trying to clean some weeds off the lure, took the lure out of the water to swing it over to me and the tip snapped.  Was maybe 1lb of weeds as most.  

 

Well I sent it off to St. Croix, and they took care of me.  Waiving the upgrade cost and return shipping and I grabbed a Legend Tournament.  I figured it's the only spinning rod I got so why not.  So if it's under warranty maybe try sending it in?  See how it goes? 

The insert is long gone. Rod still under warranty. It only cost 5 bucks for them to ship new tip, but if I get another one who's to say it's not going to happen again two months later? I'm constantly wackin the tip off stuff, I really need something more durable. I guess I should just call them to find out the proper size or ask if they can send me something that will hold up better...

If you are constantly whacking tiptops off, you are doing something wrong.  That is abnormal to repeatedly lose tiptops.  The most expensive tiptop you get will not retain to the blank any better than the cheapest. 

 

If you are constantly losing rings you are hitting them on the boat, most likely.  I lost my first ring ever this year (a 25mm ring on a reduction guide) and it was abuse  -  I was fishing two rods and a fish knocked the rod into the head of my stowed trolling motor really hard.

 

 

If you're that clumsy you might want to get a recoil tip top. They don't have any inserts, so will give you some leeway.

Sounds good to me. It's not really a matter of being clumsy, it's a matter of being a city shore fisherman. I'm constantly crawling along tight spots with not a lot of casting room. I do think I could make better attempts to quit wacking my tip though. 

I have a TRC70MHF model aka a St. Croix 7’ medium-heavy power fast action baitcaster rod and the ceramic for the rod tip fell out. I still have the ceramic but it won’t stay in the rod tip. How much did it cost for a replacement rod tip?

Like MickD said, this is your issue, probably no tip top with a glued/or pressed insert will hold up to abuse.

If you have a Wal Mart close by, they sell a kit made by Fuji. Three tips and a small hot melt glue stick. They are good qaulity, and you can easily fix your rod yourself. If the St Croix tips keep failing I wouldn't use them anymore
