Need help. Trout has a tumor??

Featured Replies

My friend caught a couple rainbows.   They must be recently stocked.  When he fileted them they had this white tumor looking thing in them.  Anyone encounter this before?   The fishes color was darker than the other ones he caught.

They were caught in mass

looks like the swim bladder to me.

The meat of a stocker trout is usually light in color.

wild  trout usually have darker meat.

Eat it, you'll be fine...

Looks fine to me.

@Russ E  that’s not a brook trout.  Male rainbows typically have more character than the silvery females.

Yepper, those are the male reproductive organs.  If it were a female those would be replaced by egg sacks.
