How would you compare the ALX Zolos to the Dobyns Champions?

 

 

 

I have both.  Both are excellent well balanced rods... slight edge to the Zolo in the sensitivity category..

That's what I'm hearing also,thanks for replying.

Both are god companies with excellent customer service. Dobyns Camps about $30-$40 more and offer a wider selection. ALX offers custom build rod close to the Champ price point. I prefer ALX because Alex will make rods exactly how I want them, Gary doesn't.

I'd skip both and get the Megabass Orochi XX or Shimano Expride. 

 

But ultimately what is the rod for? The Dobyns Champion lineup has way better options than the ALX Zolo in terms of rod options.

Looking for a pitching rod for heavy vegetation 1/2 oz weight -2oz paired with a Shimano Curado k/ 8.5.1

ALX Brawler vs Dobyns DC 765 Flip, both 7'6" lure weighs, 3/8oz to 2 oz and 1/4 oz to 2 oz.

I would personally go the Dobyns route. 

Can’t speak on the ALX rods, but they seem to get great reviews.

 

i have the dobyns champ 765 flip paired with a Curado k and absolutely love that combo.

If you decide to go Dobyns, you might also want to consider the 766 flip (the 765s big brother!) for the 1-2oz weights.

 

The 765 can handle those weights too, but the sweet spot imo seems to be around the 3/4-1 oz mark.

I agree with what 5by3 said I have  both the the Dobyns Champion XP DC 735 & 736 FH, they are 7'3" and are awesome. I just prefer a little shorter rod. 

I got a few fury  703's and a 735 very nice rods for the money but  I want to go up in quality on my flipping/pitching rod ,Iam even  looking at GLX but on there flipping sticks they only go up to 1 1/4, I want to be able to go to 2oz if I need to punch

Never owned Dobyns but have a Zolo Dragger for pitching.  Excellent rod, absolutely no complaints about it.
