Anybody using a ML Baitcasting rod for ned and neko rigs? If so what length?

How is sensitivity in your hands, your opinion on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest?

The name Majorcraft has come up enough now to pique my interest, since having a finesse casting in my arsenal would be a plus. Thanks ahead of time. 

Sorry, bay lake, didn’t mean to highjack your post, but it’s a darn good topic to piggy back on since such a rig has been on my back burner for quite some time. 

6’6 - 7’ for me. I use Medium rod (more like ML) with soft tip that has Lure weight down to 1/8 (Shimano crucial dropshot Gen1) and Majorcraft Goemotion 6’5 L/BF. 

Any rod that can load 1/8 oz weight should be fine. If you are not picky Carbon Lite 2.0 ML 7’ can handle Ned rig just fine. I don’t like it though since the bank is super thick(twice as thick compare to my Crucial) and quite heavy compare to other brand.

After a couple surgeries on my right wrist, I had to give up spinning rod/reels which I used for finesse fishing.  I have been in a 2 year process of converting to all baitcast and here’s what I have come up with on the finesse side:

 

•Majorcraft Don Iovino 6-10 MXF.  Closer to a ML IMO.  I use as my drop shot rod.

 

•Carbonlite 6-6 ML I use for Ned rigs.

 

•Loomis NRX 7-1 MXF, but only rated to 3/8 oz so close to an ML IMO.  I use to skip plastics (wacky rigs, Caffeine Shads)

 

I would think any of the above could work for Ned/Neko.

I am using a Gloomis Bronzeback ML 6'9" matched with a Shimano 70 and 6# fluoro.

Falcon Boocoo 7’M-moderate action with an old Carbonlite for neko rigged trick worms here.  

I have a MB XXX Black Themis w/ an Alphas Finesse Custom that I use for drop shotting and neko rig stuff.  It’s 6’7” and the XF action does not let it load lighter stuff very well for accurate casting. 

 

For Neds and other “small plastics on a jighead” uses I’m on the hunt for a 6 foot rod with a more moderate action to it, but I have yet to really find one that I love.

Same here. I love this rod. It is very sensitive and light

Been doing baitcast only for 10 or 15 years because of a lifetime of fishing heavy solid metal spinning reels on rods that were way too heavy. Don’t miss em. I use what most people consider a finesse set up for everything. This way my left hand will last me.

When I switched hands and had to re-learn finesses fishing, my 87 year old dad said it was good training someday for my first stroke!!
