I fish from the bank on old ponds that contain many trees. Anyone else frog fish with rods under 7'? 

Not under 7', but close - mine is a 7'3" H/F.  I was using much longer flipping sticks, but now use a high end rod, and I love it.  I bet if you can find a 6-10 H/F rod you could easily get away with it.

I use a older 6'10 MH tatula for frogging when im fishing fairly open water. works just fine.

I keep wanting to find a very short frogging rod, like 6’ ish, to use from my kayak but have never really found one that looks suitable. There is a Southeast Asian company called Bone Fishing that offers a lot of short, heavy rods, but I haven’t looked closely to see if there is a decent frogging option among them.

I use a 6'9" Hvy Frog Specific rod. Denali Rosewood to be exact.

I have used a 6’10” H falcon bucoo micro and a 7’ H Hammer with great success.  Plenty of length for casting distance but short enough for skipping and working the lure with the rod tip down(walking the lure).

 

most fisherman seem to prefer longer rods for frogs but they don’t work for my needs.

My favorite frog rod that I use from the shore is a heavy action 6' rod. Has done a great job at helping me land big bass (including double digit bass), big snakeheads that I catch frog fishing, and other fish. I am sure the ''frog fishing experts'' will tell you a 6 foot rod is too short for frog fishing but my personal experience says otherwise. With that said I do use some 7' rods for frog fishing but still prefer my favorite 6 foot rod when it comes to frog fishing. I also use a size 4000 Shimano reel for frog fishing which I am sure will shock frog fishing experts since according to most of them you can only use +7 foot rods and baitcasting gear for frog fishing.

For me, longer, heavy rods strain my wrist while trying to walk/pop them. I opt for a 7' H/F Daiwa Aird-X most of the time. But some guys use super high-end $300+ 7'3-7'6 rods and it works for them.

I fish from a kayak and my 6'10" Works fine. Being in a yak most of the time is what Makes me reluctant to use a longer frogging Rod.
