Hydra-Sports bass boat help me please!

Featured Replies

Does anyone have a Hydra-Sports bass boat? If so can you tell me about your experiences. I am about to buy a 1990 Hydra-Sports with a 200 hp johnson. The motor has been totally checked out by a marine dealer and given a clean bill of health. Thanks for your advice.

WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a bumpy ride to me.

I had a 16ft 1984 hydra-sport with a 75 Johnson. Nice little boat for me at the time. What are your expectations?

The Hydra-Sports boat is 19ft long and I have had a Procraft for years and I wanted a newer boat without getting into debt too much. Even though it has a 200 hp motor this does not mean I have to open it up all the way like my hair was on fire. I just want a boat that is comfortable to fish out of and a smooth ride.

All my buddy's had 20ft Hydros they rode good in the early 90's and you could land small planes on the front deck.

So 200 Venom you did say that you owned several gas stations.................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure I am like everyone else who owns a boat. They will be using a trolling motor  more than they have in the past. Electricity will be cheaper than gas. Keep those batteries hot.

That hull during that period was rough on the family jewels when negotiating boat wakes.

When did the hull design change?  The original poster I think mentioned an early 90s boat....are ones from the late 90s different?

I don't know if the hull changed later, I haven't been in one newer than 1994, but the Javelin was made in the same factory and that hull was changed during that period as I had both types.

Thanks, good info.

I am in an eerily similar situation as the original poster, but don't want to hijack the thread, so I'll watch closely.

I had a 185 with a 150 fast strike and it was one of the better boats I have owned. I have had that boat in some serious rough water and it always got me home dry. They changed the hull design two times, one was in 95 and the other was 99. It was a very popular boat around my neck of the woods.

What’s you guys thoughts on a 1997 Hydro sports 17,5’ with 2002 merc 150 XR6

This thread started over 11 years ago and most of the members who replied are no longer active.

Hyrdo Sport was a very innovative boat with the 1st Kevlar pad hull deign, very light weight and strong. Bass anglers tended to over power the early boats that were very fast race hull design.

I recall OMC owned Hyrdo Sports boats in the mid 90's, good bass boat.
