What are the main differences between these two Chronarchs? I can get the CI4 for 170 but is it worth it to get the mgl? As far as I know the main things are the braking and the micro module gearing 

Get the MGL. The CI4 for $170 I would definitely pass on. 

If the CI4 is new, that's a heckava deal. It's a very good casting reel even without the MGL spool. 

It's not new but the seller claims it's in great condition. The pics check out  I guess.

Hmm, why do you you say that? That's more than 100 dollars cheaper than an MGL

The seller just offered 275 for two Chronarch CI4+. I think that's a screaming deal. Guess this thread resolved itself lol.

If they’re in excellent condition that’s a great buy. I’m very happy with my Chronarch CI4s, mine have all been professionally serviced and super tuned which really made them shine. My Chronarch MGL is also excellent but I actually found my original CI4s easier to dial in the brakes.

A couple reasons. I don't buy used reel. Also I prefer the MGL. However, that's just me. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters. Hope you like them and enjoy them.

I have both. Performance is difference is nominal if any.

Thanks, I ended up getting 3 for 400 and a curado 70 for 100. They are used of course so taking a leap of faith but his reasons for selling and pictures check out. 

I am inclined to agree on the similarity in performance.  I have both and enjoy both, but in a reel to reel performance  analysis it would be splitting hairs.  But then at my age my sensitivity factors may be failing. LOL.

I have both. The handle is a lot nicer on the MGL. It is also smoother than my Ci4 but it is a lot newer. You can save about 40 to 50 dollars is you order a Mgl from Japan.
