How do you approach Night Fishing? Favorite technique?

Certainly not going to second guess Catt when it comes to night bass fishing.

Where I fish in clear water rock and gravel lakes with little cover the larger size bass during bright sunny days are very difficult to catch and most day time tournaments are won under 18 lbs, 15 lbs gets you check. Same lake the same night it's common to 25 lbs to 30 lbs because the bass are conditioned to feed when the lakes calm down and the boat traffic is gone.

I can't buy a bite in 15 lb line during the day, at night I don't use anything less. My heaviest 5 bass limits at night were on big worms, jigs and deep diving crank baits in that order. I like to use rat wake baits at dusk, but the top water bite isn't consistant at night for me.

My favorite places at night  are shallow flats , back of coves ,points and riprap because I can mostly fish  without the fear of hanging up . Buzzbaits  , spinnerbaits , texas rigs and crankbaits all work well for me .  I have a hard time fishing cover such as brush piles because I usually dont know they are there until it is too late .

Anyone still use the Jitterbug? I keep bringing it but can't bring myself to tie it on.

That's all we used for years, caught many bass on them during Summer. Color never made a difference we could tell using them. We'd bring them out about 1hr after sunset and fish a few hours. Lots of good times throwing them in past. Don't night fish anymore but the ole Jitterbug would be top on my list if I did and second would be a chatterbait.

I throw the 5/8 ounce jointed black jitterbug during low light conditions, especially after dark. Very, very effective bait. I have also had really good success with the gizzard shad colored strike king jointed king shad. I dont have a black one, but I would bet money it is effective at night as well.
