help with wiring

Recommended Posts

I bought a new Triton last year and had my Garmin electronics installed on it and requested that they run the data cable to link them together. However, they didn't. So, my question is how do I run the cable from bow to helm without it showing and drilling holes through rod lockers? TIA

I have no experience with your boat but I have done this several times.  I've always been able to do it without drilling any holes but it was always difficult and extremely frustrating.   The last time I did it was last spring.  I managed to run the cable along the hull from the console to the front of the boat using two different wire snakes,  a camera on a wire that is used to inspect pipes,  several pieces of strings,  a pool noodle,  my wife (until she got mad at me),  my neighbor (until he got mad at me), duct tape, and cable pulling lubricant.  A professional could probably do it in five minutes. It took me about three hours including the cursing.  GOOD LUCK!

Get yourself a "fish tape".  Start it at one end along the inside of the gunnel and run it to the other end.  Then tape the cable to it and pull it back.

Run the wiring through the rod compartment and qwick tie to the wiring that may already running through the compartment plastic conduit or fish it dehind the compartment. Look closely with a flash light to determine how the dealer may have Prepped the boat.

You just want to share waypoints week the blue and brown wires right?  You don't need heavy gauge wire at all for that.    Can you run under the carpet or tuck it in the outer parameters of the boat? I did that with mine.  It has never come out or anything.  We have a different boats, but there has to be an easy solution.

How comfortable are you with unscrewing a few things?  I have opened my boat up more that I should have but it allows me to be comfortable with doing what I can.  I haven't needed a dealer yet.
