*Do you have the older model BPS Crank'n Stick or the newer model ? I hear the newer model has dropped in quality ?

new model I have is 7’3 Heavy.

previous models are 7’ medium & 7’ m/h.

older brown model 7’ medium.

I have 3 generations of the rod I don’t see a drop in quality it’s a cheap rod even when not on sale. The 7’3 heavy is a awesome deep crankbait rod & a great mag top water rod say plopper 130’s The 7’ medium is a awesome squarebill/jerkbait rod

The 7'2" should be fine for those to be honest. It is a Daiwa MH so a MH+ and does have a little more backbone than most deep diving rods. The 7'4" might make sense if you are literally using the strongest hooks possible and maybe a larger size.

Have you used the 7' M/R glass for reference?

Yes I have that stick and a MH glass XT

Good to know.  I have used the MH throwing the DD Tactical crank, it weighs 3/4 oz.  It does very well with that size.  It is rated up to 1 oz.  The 6XD and C-15 and C-20 are heavier than that, I believe.  If the rod is heavier than rating, it might work.  I'll try it out with the C-20 next week.

For some reason, I was thinking the 6XDs were 3/4oz but I throw them on my 7'2". I  have even thrown a 8XD which is about the same weight as the C20. Normally, I wouldn't exceed the line ratings, but this is a rod seems to be able to handle a little above its 1oz rating decently. The tackletour review also said the same thing.

If I was buying a rod specifically for 6XD/8XDs or similar, I would probably go with a MH rod that's at least 7'6" (might have to be 2pc so I can store it). I think the 7'4" Tatula is just going to be too stuff. There is a 7'6" Shimano Zodias glass rod and a 7'8" Shimano Curado that should fit the bill. If you can fit it in your rod locker, the 10' Wright & McGrill Skeet Reese cranking rod would be pretty sweet for max casting distance.

The 6XD and C-15 are 1 oz.  right at the XTs max.  Maybe I’ll save myself some money?  The 7’4” Tatula glass says it’s for chatterbaits...I have a 7’6” Tatula XT in heavy.  That’s my flipping and pitching rod.
