Was watching YouTube the other day and a guy said he didn’t want to turn his unit on because he didn’t want to fry the transducer with it not in the water,I didn’t think it would hurt it but what do you guys think?

Not every one on YouTube has a full sack of marbles.  I turn mine on in the parking lot and turn it off in the parking lot.

Ummm.... yeah.... about that.    Unless his transducer is from the 70's, he needn't be concerned. It's akin to saying the high-beam foot switch might short out from over-use.

 

Your transducer is fine.  They aren't affected whatsoever by running them out of water.  Hasn't been a problem for decades.

Man I miss the floor high beam switch, I’m just old enough to have driven a few of my dads vans and trucks before they became “obsolete”. I’m used to the steering wheel one now but it was nice to use the floor one. And yeah, my front graph stays on with the transducer out of the water on some pretty long runs in the boat, and never had any issues over the years with them.

“..it is not recommended to test your product in this manner.   Doing so can damage the sonar circuit in your unit.  This would not be covered under warranty.”

 

If it caused immediate damage,  mine would have been fried long ago.
