Braided line fade

Featured Replies

Color Fading is my number one pet peeve with braided line. I have been using Vicious No Fade since it was released. I am in need of more line but wanted to see if there are other brands out there that do not color fade. I have tried PP, Suffix 832, Spiderwire, Tuffline to no avail. I was thinking of trying Seagur Flippin line or Daiwa braid but do not want to pay the money for a line that will be faded white in a couple outings. Anyone know of other line that does not fade? If not Ill stick with Vicious.

If braided line didn’t fade, I’m not sure how many years it would be before I respooled. I use a leader with it so I lose very little of it due to abrasion.

I am heading into my 4th season of the same Vicious No Fade braid and it looks brand new as if I just spooled it on. I just bought a couple more reels that need braid on them and the $55 price tag for the no fade is a little steep.

I use yellow pp braid for visibility and don’t care if it fades. I usually get two full seasons out of it, then flip it and get two more seasons out of it.

I use 832 and I will use it for a season, then switch it around the next season (respool it backwards). It is less than $20 for a spool and you can find it on sale for $10 sometimes so it seems like one of the most economical options not to mention that it is the best braid I’ve tried IMO.

Look into to Finatic braided line. Have not tried it but it claims not to fade at all.

Any color braid + a green or black magic marker and never to worry. Color 3ft and you're good to go. Been using same braid on a couple reels for 3-5 seasons now.

I honestly don't know how to tell if or when braid needs to be replaced. I think I'm going on 5 years on a couple of my combos.

I just read a bunch of testimonials on Vicious No-Fade Braid.  When they release a hi-vis variant, I will be first in line.  Thanks for making me aware of the product.

I use Sunline FX2, I would be embarrassed to tell you how long I have had it spooled on my frog rod.   I just can't seem to find any reason to replace it.
