Iced out Lakes in MA/RI

Featured Replies

Any Mass or RI guys know of any lakes that are opened up to put a boat on?

Cape lakes are always the first to open up. Any river that has even a light flow to it should be open by now due to the extra melt water going through them. All the lakes around me here in central MA are still locked up tight with a foot of "ice". Typical late season stuff though, mostly frozen slush/snow that the warm rain this Friday will likely take a decent chunk out of. Tomorrow is my last time out on the hard stuff, then I'll be getting the kayak out.

Funny, today was so nice that I was thinking I would take a detour on the way home to see what the lakes looked like out in Western Mass. Feels like fishing season already, although I think we have a few more weeks before they really thaw out.

I think you’re right @Boomstick, we have a project out in Williams College and it seems to be bit colder than what we have here on the eastern seaboard.

Looks like you’re just gonna have to join us for a couple of week. ?

Well one of my fishing spots was partially thawed and a lot of slush but it won't be long, especially as today is 58 again :)

Hey guys.  Sorry to lock this, but there's a technical glitch on this thread causing posts to go into moderator cue for no reason.
