What's a good hook for punching grass and other thick vegetation 

I’ve always just used a Gamakatsu EWG superline hook. Most guys use straight shank flipping  hooks, I don’t. Works for me, may not work for you

I really like the Owner Jungle flipping hooks for that application

Strike King Hack Attack - This hook's just a monster.  I run them on 80lb braid

 

VMC Heavy Duty Ike - I would't hesitate to use these in any flipping situation including punching.  Don't be put off by the lower price.  They're as good as any hook out there.

Ha!  The last time I restocked my flipping hooks, both BPS and Academy were out of the 4/0 and 5/0 Trokar. I picked up a pack of the of the Owner 4X Jungle Flipping Hooks and a pack of the Owner Twist Lock Flippin' Hooks. I'm really liking the Owner Twist Lock Flippin' Hook as I can get a few more uses out of a plastic, especially the thin ones like an Ugly Otter or BB Cricket. 

I use both Trokar Flippin' Hook and Gamakatsu Heavy Cover Flippin' Hook.

Both solid hooks but I tend to get better hook up ratio with the Gamakatsu.

I think it's because the Trokar hook point is bent inwards a little more.

But if the plastic is torn up, the Gamakatsu catches more grass because the hook point sticks out more.
