Looking for a casting outfit to fish for trout up here in the north Georgia rivers and streams. 

 

I own own a bunch of curado 70s and would hate to buy another reel. Would this reel suffice? And if so, maybe a rod recommendation? 

If not, what spinning combo would you buy in the 100 dollar range?

The one I have - reel was a gift from a member here, rod was purchased.

Major Craft makes trout casting rods, check out Digitaka's selection. One of those combined with your Curado 70's and a finesse spool should serve you well.

   I have a Curado 70, and I put it on a Daiwa Spinmatic-D Kokanee trolling rod. DON'T let the name fool you; it's a fantastic rod for UL casting. I use 8 lb. mono.  jj

Getting frustrated in trying to find a good UL 7'+ casting rod I put my calcutta conquest bfs on a loomis trolling rod and bingo!  Feels good, casts well and cannot wait to try it bubble fishing for trout. I also have tried numerous Kuying rods but the casting models are all a little to stiff for my liking.

 

How much weight are you going to use in pursuit of trout?

If you were to put a DIY spool in that curado it should easily cast 1/8th. It might now, never had one so no idea! I know I put a DIY spool into a few Tatulas and it made them very easy to fling light weight.

 

Have fun experimenting with different gear! Before ya know it you will have more than you can ever use.........

Kuying Teton are excellent rods. Not just for the low cost, they are really nice rods. All that I have are well put together, with great Fuji components. I have three different Teton rods and all are great rods. Really sensitive and comfortable. TTS662L spinning rod is an amazing ned rig rod for light applications.

Use a Kokanee rod, they are perfect for your purposes.  I fish an 8' UL koke rod with a Black Max 1600 for brook trout and it'll throw even 1/16th beetle spins no problem.
