Looking for rod a reel

Featured Replies

Looking for a good pitching and flipping baitcasting rod and reel for jigs for bass. Around $150.00 do yall have any suggestions anything would be much appreciated, thanks.

Dobyns Fury 735C with a Daiwa Fuego CT.  For around $180 you've got an excellent setup.

Or go with a Falcon BuCoo with a Fuego and you're closer to $150.

Daiwa Aird X rod with a Daiwa Fuego reel. Comes in under budget and leaves room for the line.

Which is exactly the setup I got for my pitching/flipping.

Got my Fuego on Amazon for $74 - so definitely room for line and a few pitching jigs to go along with it.

This is likely the best rod and reel you'll get with your budget, I'd get either a 7'2 heavy or 7'5 heavy.

That combo should fit your needs well. In fact, it sounds like a great deal.

The fuego is hard to beat for that money and the breaking system on the daiwas is amazing imo. That shimano slx combo is sweet tho my buddy has one and it feels like a 300 combo

$150 for both?  Or each?  Flipping, the reel doesn't matter in the least.  Pitching?  If you're new to baitcasting, get something with excellent breaks and at least fair drag.  You'll want something fast, at least 7 speed.

Ideally, a flipping rod would be a completely different setup than a pitching rod.  But if you want a single rod for both, see below:

The rod should have some muscle, but a fairly forgiving tip.  As others have said, go with a Falcon Bucoo SR heavy power and a Diawa Fuego CT.  Over your budget by a smidge, but solid setup for sure.

Dobyns Fury extra heavy would be a smart choice for the rod also.

I don't like to tell people to stretch their budget when they start a thread with a particular budget, but $150 IME  makes it tough.
