Who here is running a Hummingbird sideimaging unit?

Featured Replies

If you fish with someone running one of the 797si units from Hummingbird...it will put this bad boy at the top of your 'want list'.  It is undoubtedly the greatest thing to happen to sonar in a looong time, and Hummingbird has the market cornered big time.  These things are bad arse.  I just need to scrounge up about $900 and I'm in!  Anybody here running one?

I put one on my boat last month and it is a blast. I love it.

Sweet!  There is so much to discover with those units.  I can't wait until I get one and go over the spots that I thought I knew and see everything I have missed.  Too bad you don't live in Dallas.

I have a 997 on the console and a 97 on the TM with the interlink.  If you like to fish structure they are the way to go.

Do you guys that have the unit have any suggestions on how to set the unit up?

What I am getting at is things like sensitivity settings and all of that good stuff to get the most out of the unit.

I sold my 14 ft McKee Craft with 60 hp Johnson and bought a $200 aluminum canoe and put a $1200 used 997c and a trolling motor on it.   I don't have the same range I had, but I have a better idea where to fish now.

Of coarse this also fits with my preference of small lakes that don't have public ramps.

Although I am partial to Lowrance, I will have to give these units a shot in my next boat.  By then it should be on its 2nd generation...

It already is in the 2nd generation.  First gen modes were the 981c and 987c.
