Hello. Im looking for a new fishing pole to buy since my old one basically fell apart on me. I have about 4 ponds on my property that all have nice bass in them and a river that runs through the property as well with stocked trout in it. I used to go fishing as a kid long ago and a couple days ago I decided to go out myself and see if I could catch something since I havent done it in years. I got some casts out of it and caught 2 small bass then the pole crapped the bed because it so d**n old (probably 10 years old). Those 2 fish were enough to get me hooked (haha) on fishing again and Id like to get into it but I have no rod! If someone could link me some information about this stuff and possibly links to poles I can buy that'd be great. Thanks.

im very blessed with the amount of land my family has aquired over the years here. I live on a farm and my family owns a public golf course as well which holds 2 of the 4 ponds. Though its a bit difficult fishing on the course during tee-times....

The Pflueger Trion is a decent reel, I have one and use it for multiple techniques on a Medium Power rod.

This is what i would suggest also. Bought one when I was traveling and it is a pretty decent setup. I had it spooled with 8lb mono and was useing it for poppers and wacky senkos.

I've got 10# Yo-Zuri on mine. Cranks/Jerks/T-Rigs 1/2 oz and under as well as Wacky.

I was going to suggest a Pflueger President combo, but I am pretty sure it is above your price range.

Well, Amazon has the 30 with a 6'6" medium rod for $80 - so ya, that's not too much above the OP's price limit.

Walmart sells the Lew’s Xfinity spinning combo for $60. It’s a great budget combo.

 

If you can swing a few bucks over your budget, Dick’s has the Mach 2 spinning combo for $99 It’s an aluminum framed reel with a IM6 Rod, Winn grips on rod and reel. 

Found Pfluger president combos in medium action for 72.00 if your still looking. I know your in new england, but in michigan we had them in the fishing section of a Meijer, which is like a higher end walmart here in michigan. Im sure I could at least get photos for a price match haha. Thats gonna be actually a really nice combo, run some 10-12 pound braid, or really any line until you build up more of a fish fever and loose your mind like the rest of the site haha

I actually use that combo as my small mouth bread and butter.
