Lund Renegade 1775 on bigger lakes

Featured Replies

I am wondering if any of you have fished out of a Lund renegade 1775 on bigger bodies of water (5,000 acres). I am looking to buy my first fishing boat but I am not really sure what I want. I mainly fish bass in shallow water but occasionally will try panfish or walleye. I like the mod V boat because I fish a lot of small lakes with poor boat launches. How does the renegade do on some bigger lakes? I know it's not ideal, but would it be safe to have this boat out occasionally on larger lakes? The other boat I am looking at would be a Lund Impact, but I feel like the renegade would work better for me most of the time. Thank you.

I fish a 1448 Lowe flat bottom with a 25 hp from ponds with no ramp up 19,000 acre lakes with no problems. I've looked at the Lunds and they are nice but it might be challenging at poor boat ramps. It should definitely handle 5,000 acres easily.

I have not, but seen many who do.  I would not hesitate

17 1/2' mod V aluminum bass w/90 hp is very sea worthy. If the lakes get 3' white caps slow down and you should be OK.

Thank you all for your answers. Sounds like I would be fine as long as I don't drive like a nut on windy days.

I have a similar style ranger, RT178. I fish some bigger lakes but not when it’s moderately windy or rough. I’m sure the renegade can do it too, just be smart about it. Don’t be out there in 4 footers.
