Navionics or Lake Master card

Featured Replies

Buying for a smaller lake in Ontario canada as well as all the lakes in Michigan. Pros and Cons to each? My helix 10s that are linked I assume do not share off of one card

Lakemaster tends to be more accurate on structure.

Navionics covers a lot more lakes. Before you purchase make sure your lake is covered.

My lake is under lake list for both but with Novionics I can actually preview the mapping. Can that be done with lake master?

You can view it on a computer if you buy lakemaster contour elite. Never tried it on my graph, if I wasn't on the lake.

The point is I can already see what I'm buying before I buy the nav. It'd be nice if lake master did that.

Lakemaster display can be customized with Humminbird. You can shade and set offsets, and if you have a Minn Kota with Link, you can run contours and tracks. Can't do any of that with Navionics

I have navionics and lakemaster. They both work.

Like @slonezp mentioned lakemaster has better options for hummingbird.

I have had navionics running at the helm while lakemaster was running at the bow.

Navionics missed a lot of structure compared to lakemaster.

The only reason I have Navionics is one of the lakes I fish is not covered by lakemaster.

Is it fair to assume if my small Canadian lake is shown on the lake master that it had good information

I use Navionics and coloring depth contours is awesome.

The fact that I can have it on my phone and dash is nice.

There is no wrong decision here

Either will probably work on a small lake. In my experience if Lakemaster covers a lake it is well defined.

The drawback of navionics in my area is it tends to miss a lot of raodbeds on the reservoirs.  On lakemaster they standout.

Go to https://chartselect.humminbird.com and find your lake then click details.  You will be able to see a three small images with contours.   A few lakes have a Preview Contours link that will allow you to see the whole lake.

Tried. My lake, Sharbot Lake Ontario doesn't come up

Seems this is different than what was mentioned above.  Sounded like Navionics couldn't do depth shading and only lakemaster could.  Is this not correct?

I have done it on the app and on my Garmins

A little update on using a navionics card with a hummingbird.

been a while since I used the Navionics card.

I went to a local 2500 acre power plant lake today. had my navionics cards in.

First thing you have to do every time you power up the hummingbird is go to the navigation menu and turn on Fish n chips.

this turns the Navionics sonar contours on. if you don't do this it will be in navigation mode and only show navigation contours, which are not well defined.

I was catching Bass on a ledge that dropped off from 2 foot into 10 foot. I tried to duplicate the same spot 3 different times Every time I went to an area on Navionics that looked similar, there would be no ledge or the depth would be way off.

Maybe it is different in other places, but on every lake I use Navionics it is extremely inaccurate.

I will stick with Lakemaster on all lakes they cover.

I have found that the phone app is more accurate than the chip on lesser known bodies of water, especially in hazardous condition.
