Time to upgrade

Featured Replies

So I am pretty d**n proficient with a baitcaster now after learning on my BPS Pro qualifier 2 limited edition that i got on sale for $50. Without the sale it is $100, but im just gonna say it, it doesn't feel like its worth $100. Anyways time to upgrade. I was looking at the shimano slx, but honestly after comparing it to what i have already, it doesn't seem like much of an upgrade. What price range would you guys say i would be in for it to be worth the upgrade from what I already got? Any suggestions on reels? A bps employee told me that even a tatula probably wouldn't even be that much of a significant upgrade.

Anything that's in the 150-200 range. A curado, a Tatula, Lew's Speed spool, etc.

Curado 200k or Curado 70 will likely be a noticeable upgrade.

Have you checked the Flea Market?  There is a Shimano Scorpion 70XG and Tatula Type R for sale there.

How much are you willing to spend?  There are a few in the low $200 range on another For Sale site.  I'd say over half my reels were purchase used.  Only had problems with two of them (one didn't have a problem until the 3rd time out with it).  The other reel would have been upgraded and tuned anyway so it didn't bother me to put the extra money in it as it was (and still is) cosmetically in excellent shape.  (This is not 2 out of 5, but out of at least 40.)  Used reels offer an opportunity to get a reel you either wouldn't normally be able to afford or else not be willing to pay that much.

Go to sportsmans outfitters and buy a Lews tournament Pro for 140$. You will never look back.
