Looking from some clarity here. It looks to me that a Neko Rig is simply a Wacky Rig with some type of weight in the end of the plastic of choice. If so, wouldn't it just be a weighted Wacky?

The weight being at the end gives it a different action on the fall, as I understand it

Before it was called a Neko rig it was a nail weight rigged worm.

That's what I thought. Why put another name to a technique that has been around for years? As an example: a Trig is a trig whether you have a weight or not.

Yes, a weighted wacky rig has the weight in the middle so it falls mostly horizontally. A Neko rig has the weight in the head of the bait with an unweighted hook so it falls weight down. It still bends where the hook is but the weighted head section falls first.

It’s called marketing. 

Been known to work in the art of selling things. 

Knowing when to Neko and when to Wacky is the art of it.

The name is the marketing side.

Both have a similar scissor action - the biggest difference is where they work best in the water column.  Wacky tends to work best in the top of the water column, Neko bottom...
