CBD oil....thoughts?

Recommended Posts

.....Not THC, has been recommended to me by more than few healthcare professionals.  I have started research and sampled a few, primarily for inflation.

I see it mentioned on other boards and was wondering if there are any takers and what the results are.  Personally, it has helped me with sleep and has taken the edge off, but not sure it is helping with my primary objective.

 Thanks for any insight

It is touted to do a lot from pain to anxiety to arthritis to whatever ails you.

However, I believe more studies must be completed to note the actual impact on your body from using this marijuana plant oil.

If it works for you then by all means continue taking it.

My wife just had her spine rebuilt at Duke and she is recovering but still having extreme muscle pain after three months of recovery.  She is off the opioids and the morphine which is a good sign. So I understand what you are going through.

All the best to find some relief so you can fish every day for the rest of your life!

I'll never be without my oil.  My feet and ankles no longer hurt-they are beat up from a lifetime of football and basketball (and being 250+).

The gummies work, as does the oil. I feel like the oil works faster. Like you, I sleep better. I also feel less anxiety. It took about a week for results, but I notice if I forget and skip a day.

I have two family members who are also on CBD daily and they are as happy as I am.

While doing more research, I see that dosing is all over the place and that there seams to be a lot of experimentation 🙁

I can't comment on its effectiveness but if you decide to try it make sure to get it from a reputable company. I've read several reports where they've tested different brands and the percentages of CBD were all over the map. There isn't much, if any, regulation or oversight on these products.

Also, make sure it's legal in your state. Here in TX a lot of people have been arrested for just CBD and the police don't always know how to handle it because the laws aren't clear.

CBD without THC is legal in all 50 states, and point well take 👍

CBD was officially legalized in TX on July 11th of this year, so about a month ago. I think part of the issue is the police not being able to determine whether something is CBD or THC oil. A lot of people have been arrested for CBD but hopefully that will stop now that the law has been cleared up some. TX is really behind on marijuana laws.  Anyway, I'm sure you will be fine just wanted to put it out there.

I know it works for my dog but I have yet to try it for myself.

X2

I got some for my mom's dogs this 4th of July and for the 1st time they stayed calm during the fireworks.  It also seems to help the 14 year old lab's joint pain.

My dog doesn't have anxiety or get worked up over stuff like fireworks but he is a 140lb rottie and he rarely if ever whines from hip pain as he gets up anymore,  I ran out once and it was about a week before I could get some more and in that week he started whining again when he got up.

Between high school football, the military and a 35 year Law Enforcement career, my lower back, hips and both knees all have arthritis. I won't say that CBD has taken away all of my pain, it hasn't. I will say that I have more good days then bad and that the bad days are a lot better.

One thing, don't buy you CBD oil at a gas station or some fly by night, here today gone tomorrow pop up store. Get it at your pharmacy. You'll probably pay more, but I rest assured that what I take is lab rested pure.

I've been using it for arthritis pain for a year or so. Ive tried about 12 different brands with varying results. I have found at least 10 of them to be ineffective or poor in effectiveness. My main finding is that full spectrum is a marketing ploy. I use a concentrated cbd extract now, and it works perfectly. The full spectrum promises better synergy with your bodies mechanisms as it includes the oils from the seeds, stems, leaves etc, but really what you getting is less and weaker cbd, while the companies selling it don't have to isolate the cbd, they can package the oil as is. I have done tons of research, spoken with a handful of "professionals", and like i said, tried many brands on myself. I am 98% pain free from my knee and hip arthritis, but only when using the cbd. If i miss taking it, or take an inferior brand, I'm up all night in pain. NHBULL, pm me and i can tell you the brand i take, its independently tested for potency and purity. The potency is always much higher on the test results as compared to the label. I use the 1200 milligram bottle, and the results are often in the 1450 range, free cbd.

Over this past winter, my hands were constantly numb and my joints hurt, pretty badly at times. I tried some CBD oil for my hands and it was the only thing that seemed to help but the particular CBD oil was like covering my hands in oil/grease, so I was not able to use it and do anything like to work, play guitar, fish, etc.

Now that it's warmer, the pain is completely gone but I'm worried it will come back in the winter.

Try the oil, taken orally.

I didn't even know they had such a thing!

I have been told (by other people who play guitar as well) that other CBD oils are not like putting raw grease on your hands too, so I think I need to try a different brand if I have problems again. Right now, I'm feeling pretty good! I've had some hand issues for over 10 years now which affected my guitar playing even before the chemo, and right now I'm able to play things I haven't played in over 10 years. Last time I was in Guitar Center, maybe a dozen people walked over to me and asked where they can hear me play -- which used to be normal but hasn't happened in a while.

Been using both CBD and medical marijuana for my chronic pain condition for several years now. My best advice to you is to buy your CBD from a licensed dispensary. Here in MA we have a great one that now sells to the public (no medical marijuana card required) and each batch is made in-house (seed to sale control) batch tested, dated and labeled with those test results.

If you want more info on this just PM me.

I think the research on marijuana is as extensive as any drug known to man. It causes nearly everything people now claim that it cures. The only research that ever indicated it might reduce pain was performed by new businesses looking for marketing material to sell it with. Marijuana does not reduce pain. If anything, it increases pain. If that weren’t true, there would’ve been a marijuana crisis, not an opioid crisis. Or at least, there’d never have been an opioid crisis, when marijuana was always cheaper and easier to get. People would’ve just used marijuana. It’ll never be FDA approved. The research that ensures that has existed for decades.

I am not against legalization. I am against the government incentivizing dishonesty by encouraging people to lie and claim that they need marijuana products, like CBD, because of medical issues. People like to use marijuana. People like to use CBD. We shouldn’t be making people lie about it.

I am against the use of marijuana products, because it is already known to cause numerous serious adverse effects. So I know, once it’s legal, 50 years later, there’s going to be a crisis of medical issues that it’s going to cause. The reason we don’t hear it now is because it’s illegal, so people already suffering from its adverse effects just lie and pretend it’s not from marijuana. Once it’s legal, the serious negative health effects will become public knowledge.

The problem with marijuana and CBD is they positively affect reward centers in the brain. This causes people who use it to only see the good in it. The claim that it is “Not Psychoactive” is not FDA approved and will eventually be outlawed.

Currently, CBD is illegal to sell for human consumption.

That is a pretty bold statement.

I am curious if you have had experience with THC and CBD?

Are all of your studies referring to the old refer madness era?

there are several studies that prove it helps with some medical problems.

Chronic pain, depression, and epilepsy are just a few.

it is not a magic drug but the adverse affects of narcotics and pain killers are far worse than anything you get from marijuana.

I personally have a friend suffering from stage 4 lung cancer. He hated the pain killers they were prescribing him.

he was out of options and decided to try medical marijuana.

most of his pain is gone and he feels a lot better. If it can ease the last stages of your life, how can that be a bad thing?

I don't personally use any cannibus products, but know of several people who do with good results.

Just because the law isn’t enforced doesn’t mean it’s legal. Yes, I know more about cannabis than anyone should. There are countless unbiased studies that were conducted by people trying to get it legalized in the past and they all failed at proving its benefits. Plus, the harmful effects will never meet the standards for legal pharmaceuticals in the US.  It’s too dangerous.

The truth is it does next to nothing for pain. The pain relief claim is a myth, proven not true countless times. It cures nothing. It treats nothing. It makes nearly everything it’s used for worse.

It does affect opioid receptors in the brain. That’s where all of the false pain relief claims come from.

I have no problem with people using it for fun and to get high. It’s better than making them fake medical conditions and calling it “medicine.” I also have no problem with the terminally ill using it. But any frequent use is does more harm than good.

Its a psychoactive drug. All people who like a psychoactive drug will talk about how great it is, even as it kills them. That is one of the most harmful side effects of all dangerous drugs.

If it was a good pain reliever and so safe, opioids would’ve never caught on. Anyone who ever used it and says it relieves pain is lying. Plain and simple.

Its safer than opioids, heroin, cocaine, crack, PCP and chronic alcoholism. But nowhere near as safe as all these crackpots claim these days.

Once you see all the negative heath effects on people you know, who never grew out of it, like losing part of their jaw to salivary cancer in their 30s just like the beastie boys—you start to realize how dangerous it is.

Excerpt from National Institute of Drug Addiction article:

However, scientific study of the chemicals in marijuana, called cannabinoids, has led to two FDA-approved medications that contain cannabinoid chemicals in pill form. Continued research may lead to more medications.

The FDA requires carefully conducted studies (clinical trials) in hundreds to thousands of human subjects to determine the benefits and risks of a possible medication. So far, researchers haven't conducted enough large-scale clinical trials that show that the benefits of the marijuana plant (as opposed to its cannabinoid ingredients) outweigh its risks in patients it's meant to treat.

In the battle between states and the federal government regarding medical marijuana, some might be surprised to find out that the feds currently grow and supply several patients with their own pot to treat pain and other illnesses. Though they no longer accept new patients, the federal medical marijuana program flies in the face of their stance on state-run programs.

Marijuana will never be FDA approved to be prescribed in the US. Marinol is man made. It is one of the most hated drugs on the market. Marijuana has never succeeded at treating pain. The only reason the claim exists is people lying to get drugs. Next time you see a crack head or heroin addict shaking on the floor, visibly in pain—they will tell you “it kills the pain” every time.

This whole thread was based on CBD not marijuana or THC.

CBD oil is not considered a psycho active drug. It does not give the high associated with THC.

People that want Marijuana just for the high, have no use for CBD.

To make a claim that people lie about its advantages, to get drugs, is just ridiculous.

This whole conversation reminds me of this old propoganda clip.
