Featured Replies

Whats some good 6 6 composite cranking rods out there.. i want one for throwing little stuff like bandit 100s berkley squarebulls under boatdocks and around trees something i can be real accurate with..

I love my 6'6 Kistler KLX Crank, Rip and Twitch rod for small stuff.

I love the Dobyns Fury 6'6"  663c rod for Bandit 100 and other small crankbaits. Great rods for moving baits like that.

I have the 6'6" that they don't make any more. Love mine. That's a good price.

G. Loomis CBR783.  It is an odd rod but it is designed specifically for the purpose you mention.  I have had one for several years.  I like it but hook sets are just different with this rod.  Its sort of slow and works best for deep cranks but is just fine for 3-4 foot cranks.

So thats a graphite blank?? Does it let fish engulf a wake bait if your deflecting it off dock posts? My thinking is that a composite or glass would be better

Yes, it's graphite but it's oddly slow.  It is different from most rods.  I also have a St. Croix Legend Glass 7'2'' M and it's great for topwater baits (especially whopper ploppers).  I am guessing the 6'10'' would be OK.

I used it again tonight at my local honey hole with a Lucky Craft Fat CB SSR (Surface Crankbait).  I caught 4 in 20 minutes.  Nothing big, all of them were about 2-3lbs.  I lost one on a hook set but otherwise it worked great.  My only caution is that hook sets are soft enough that fish tend to inhale the baits.

Thanks man I’ll look into that

I prefer fast action for squarebills and lipless.  I think the faster action rebounds better when you run your lure into stuff and rip it through grass.
