Bank fishing lures to use during the summer/fall transition?

Featured Replies

Hey all.

This is my first year going into serious bass fishing, and I never really fished for bass during the fall and transition since I was a Multi species angler.

Anyway this summer has been great for me catching bass. So far this year since May I have been able to land around 39 bass in different locations around PA/NJ.

But I noticed that my summer tactics such as using topwater, chatterbaits and T rigs is starting to slow down and the bite has been getting tough.

Can anyone throw me some tips and advice on what lures I should be getting for sucess in the fall? I know bass start feeding heavily again on shad and baitfish so I was thinking maybe bring out jerkbaits and cranks.

Tight lines.

If you can time your trips right, a spinnerbait or lipless bait can be very good at times. Jigs work well too. I fish plastic worms up untill the lakes ice over.

for me ... i do bank fish ... the floating worm is an old school presentation that still works ... and not only in the spring ... the fall too ...

use bc with 10lb. mono with 6', 6'6" and 7' med. rods fast and spinning gear 6' and 6'6" med rods fast with 10 and 8lb. mono ... and braid ... spiderwire stealth and berkley fireline ...

several companies make excellent floating worms ...

good fishing ...

Spinnerbaits with a lot of thump work well for me.  1/2 oz double Colorado is my first pick.  There generally needs to be either clouds or wind for it to work best.  In more bluebird conditions, a slow rolled 4" or 5" swimbait on a belly weighted screw lock hook may be a good choice.
