When using a senko and catching small bass what size hook would you use, also what type?

This situation is depending upon a few variables, mainly the size of senkos you are using.  My favorite senkos are the 6" yamamotos and also like the 4.5" Yum forked dingers.

For 6" Yamamotos, I like atleast a 3/0-4/0 gamakatsu straight shank hook.  

For 4.5" Yum forked dingers, I like a 3/0 gamakatsu straight shank hook as it imbeds perfectly in line with the little weedless cut out in the bait.

I tend to shy away from the wide gap hooks when fishing senkos; personal preference i guess, and I feel I get a more natural action on the fall.  

Right now i have a 4 in. senko (yamamoto) with a size 2 hook.

I should have asked what size senko. in your case i would go w/ a size 3 ewg. The only problem w/ the 4inch senko is the number of dinks u catch. i would go w/ the 5 inch if you can. just my thoughts. good luck

For 5" & 6" Senkos, Fat Ika, 4"+ tubes, Kreatures, Hula Grubs, Laminated Lizards and Kut-Tail (all worms > 4") I recommend 4/0 EWG Gamakatsu or X-Point Offset Worm Hooks. I have been fishing with these hooks for a number of years. My hook-up ratio is something north of 95% with soft plastics and my landing ratio, once hooked-up, is much better than that.

Stay away from superline hooks,i perferr light wire hooks.My hook-up ratio skyrocketed once i got some lightwire hooks instead of those superline thick hooks.Just from personal experience.

In this situation, the hook-size is determined primarily by the bulk of the plastic lure rather than the size of the quarry.

Using a 5-inch stick worm (senko, ***, tiki stick) I'd go with a 4/0 Gamakatsu Offset-Shank Super Line hook (0.062" dia).

However, if you're using monofilament line instead of braid, you might be better off using the standard-wire Gammy (series 58).
