Hello! I have a bit of an odd question. I am wondering if my braid that I will fish through winter will need, or should be trashed and if I should spool on another at the start of spring. I know braid lasts AGES when maintained and not abused horribly, but I have no idea if being in cold constantly, then being subjected to the bi-polar cold-hot weather Texas has will weaken it.

How cold are you fishing and for how long?  I do a lot of winter fishing up here in the tundra and braid always ices up on me.  I typically run mono when temps are near or below freezing.  Braid won't get damaged by the cold, but it'll be a pain to handle if it ices up.

Yup, I normally only fish down to the upper 30's, but the few times it went below freezing I had to put those rods back in the box.

Nothing awful at all. I live in Texas, it tends to dip down to 35 or so during the dead of winter.

It ices up while using it below about 28 degrees but it’s no worse for the wear come spring. It’s just useless when it’s super cold, but not damaged for the future

Nothing to worry about on your end.  If the wind is howling you may get some ice buildup though.
