Sunline SX1 braid diameter

Featured Replies

I've always been a Power Pro guy but have been considering putting SX1 on a new multi-use spinning combo I'm putting together. I'm big on looking at line diameter and not just strength rating, but unfortunately I can't find any manufacturer supplied diameters on this line. I reached out to Sunline but have not heard back yet. For guys that have used both, how do you feel the diameter of SX1 compares to Power Pro? More specifically, I'm looking at 12# SX1 and have traditionally used 10/15# Power Pro on spinning setups. I'd appreciate any help/feedback

Yeah, i checked like 8 places online, none of them give the diameter of this braid.

What power pro did you use?

I've used the Sunline Asegai braid and its a thinner line when comparing lb strength to PPV2.

I usually put on .006 on my spinning reels, sunlines .006 is closer to actual spec vs PPV2 .006

I’ve always just used the original power pro spectra

They used to have an online catalog that listed the diameters, but for whatever reason it disappeared about a month ago and I havent been able to find it since. For what its worth, I drop shot most of the time and I run 10lb sx1 on all of my reels. I used to run 10lb 832 and power pro, but like the sx1 a lot better. The 12lb will be great stuff too.

Braid isn't round or diametrical so Sunline can't give your a diameter for something that is oval.

^^^this^^^ surprised Sunlne would list diameters, mm size I can comprehend being a little less specific. Good info,

Thsnks,

Tom

Not sure if this helps but I ordered some SX1 in 50lb last year. The diameter is huge. Like, larger than FX2 60lb. The color bleeds like a sonofagun too. Needless to say, I'm not a fan. My guess is the 12lb SX1 will be much larger than PP in 10, 15, or even 20.

LXvE Bassin posted SX1 line diameters and very close to Power Pro.

I was pleasantly surprised the dia data was published. My experience with Japanese engineers over data wasn't always easy do in part to differences in interpretion of terms, the Japanese are extremely precise with engineering data. I had to travel to Japan Sasepo naval base to go over test data step by step to get acceptance of termology and proceedures. Diameter means precisely a absolute round diameter and braid isn't.
