I'm trying to decide between a Pflueger President and a H2O XPRESS Mettle spinning reel. Just about everyone seems to agree that the President is a solid reel for the price but I can't find much info on the Mettle. I have a Mettle baitcast reel that I love so I'm leaning toward the Mettle spinning reel. Just checking if anyone can provide a recommendation. It may be possible to spend a little more for something better, but I don't want to spend any more than $60.

I've had both. Save yourself a couple bucks and get a Daiwa Revros instead. The newer Presidents just aren't the same and the Mettle was geary after a year of moderate use. I've been switching my budget spinners over the the Revros after a couple years of testing the first and couldn't be happier.

I've been impressed with the Revros too and I'm a Shimano fanboy!

I think the Mettle spinning reel is a little hidden gem that unfortunately might stay hidden. If you do a spec analysis comparison on the Mettle spinning reel up against almost any other spinning reel in that $59 price range it will nearly always surpass. Aluminum frame, aluminum spool and 10 ball bearings are the big ones that come to mind. Plus its built in the same factory that is pumping out the Diawa spinning reels. But on the other hand..specs can go both ways. Less bearing count=less chance at frozen bearing.  Graphite (composite) frame=lighter than aluminum frame when comparing it to..lets say the Revros. I would give the Mettle a try, but I'm sure you will be happy with any reel you decide that has been mentioned.

I was looking at Academy's website tonight and saw that the Mettle was selling in a combo for $33.97 (reg $79.99) which is $26 less than just the reel and decided to get that. I couldn't pass that up!
