Reel for Frog/ heavy flipping

Featured Replies

I picked up a 7’3” XH expride from tackle Warehouse on Black Friday. It’s gonna be my frog and heavy flipping rod.

so now I need a reel. I’ve been looking at, Currado K, Currado DC (I have one and love it) metanium mgl and maybe the scorpion DC. I’m looking for further recommendations, and which reels will be best for the application and best for the money. Just FYI other manufacturer recommendations are welcome but I will most likely buy a shimano. ??‍♂️

Anything with an aluminum frame and a strong drag will work fine.  I like anything medium to high speed for frogs.

Take a look at the Bantam

d**n I knew I should have picked up that combo. Worth it even if you don’t want the rod.

Lews superduty would be be good for flipping

Any of those should be fine. If you choose the Metanium, I'd swap the gears for brass ones if you're going to be frogging a good bit. I'd probably get the Curado K if it were me between those choices. But I'm going to agree with Mat, the Bantam is probably the best choice on the market.

Check the spec's on the Bantam. I have 2 & you will not beat them for what you are looking to do. I am with matmellon3 on this. It is one solid reel.
