*toads and frogs

Featured Replies

kbhere  how many of you guys  fish the plastic frogs or toads  first of this week befor the temp got to 9o's  they were slaming those   stanley ribbet frogs   both  the     the floating and the  suspending  type    would not hit a buzzbait but hit the toads  kb

You know KB I haven't had much luck with that style of frog out here.  I probably just need to fish them more.  I'm going to take this a motivation to try it tomorrow morning before work.  Thanks.

I prefer the "solid" toads to the hollow frogs, which have the annoying tendency of taking on water.

I haven't been able to get out lately, but based on years past, temperatures in the 90s are just fine,

as long as the lake isn't suffering from a dissolved oxygen deficit. Clear through the summer (in Florida),

you'll find days when bass are busting in the pads and maidencane; easy pickings with a toad.

BTW: My favorite toads are the Cane Toad and Sizmic Toad.

My personal favorites are the Yum Buzz frogs and Zoom horny toads.  I have also heard good things about the ribbet frogs.  As far as weather, as long as I'm workin' heavy cover such as lily pads or thick grass I have done well on frogs where my buzzbait won't work and a weedless presentation is essential; can't beat 'em in the thick stuff!!

I use to fish the hollow bodied frogs alot, but now i just mainly stick to horny toads and sizmic toad.  The hollow bodied frogs since they are so light are difficult to cast, with a heavy lb test

there def for the thickest slop you can find. i caught one on top of some nasty stuff that i would have never guessed had bass. ive always used sizmic frogs but recently i was given a free sample of manns hardnose baits and have a new favorite. the hard nose is really great. caught 10 bass on just one bait the other day and could have caught more. i recomend to try them to anyone

Rolo, I agree with you on the hollow frogs taking in water.

I just finished "glueing" the bottom of one of my Scum Frogs to help stop the water from seeping into the frog's body.

I love the Ribbit's action but so far no takers.

Horney Toads are very good when fished above the grass for me in rivers.

I have two SPRO frogs but have not thrown them. I also have two Brarinski (spelling?) frogs which I have not thrown.

I may throw that Ribbit tomorrow morning just to see if I can get a hit.  I love buzzbaits and would rather throw one of those but sooner or later I have to throw that Ribbit to gain confidence in it.
