Favorite Prop Bait ?

Featured Replies

Two of my favorites are no longer in production; the Two-Fer, which has a buzzbait prop and the WoodChopper. Boy Howdy and the full size Torpedo are close seconds.

I always found the single rear prop top water lures out perform the double prop baits.

The most productive prop lure for me was Smithwick's Buck 'n Brawl Shad color followed by the Pa Scooter. The Smithwicks rear prop lures have a flat front underside that allows the lures to jump and go under water a few feet trailing a bubble stream that trigger strikes like no other prop lure. The hooks need to be upgraded on the vintage Smithwicks.

*I never knew there was so much available in prop baits !  Also , why are prop baits so popular in Florida and not other places in the country ? Is it due to grass cover or other reasons ?

In dont use them year round . Spring mainly . Post spawn on points and cover leading to deep summer habitat is   idea .

I still use the Devils Horse and the H.C. Baits Rattalur. I've also been using the Tease Prop Bait by Black label Tackle the past couple of years.
