Steez SV TW & Spool Tension Knob

Featured Replies

I’ve read that the spool tension knob on the Steez is set by the manufacturer and doesn’t need to be adjusted once purchased. Taking it a step further, I’ve read that you literally shouldn’t mess with it. Naturally, I want to mess with it. Does anyone have experience with this to advise one way or another? This is the first reel I’ve had anywhere near this high end so the last thing I want to do is mess it up. At the same time, I want to get this thing as tuned in as possible. Thanks for time and feedback!

That’s what I have gathered as well BaitFinesse. I get that I can and am not supposed to. I’m just fishing to see if there are any first hand experiences with those who have messed with it. Has it helped? Caused problems? Etc.

I had a steez sv and it was too tight for my liking. I loosened the cast control knob just a bit to free up the spool a little. I prefer a more free spool.

It's kind of silly to me. The zero adjustment knob just seems like a marketing gimmick. At the end of the day it still just a cast control knob.

I adjusted mine all the time. Never bothered anything.

It will loosen up over time anyway. Dont let it confuse you, its just a CC knob. Theres nothing special about it or how its set. Ive loosened up all of mine and swapped them between A’s and svtw’s. Its set in the “prefered” way at the factory which is too tight for my liking anyway.

I find the SV spools kind of slow for my liking. I'm not a fan.

Not sure why daiwa thinks people are too dumb to know how to adjust a cast control knob. So they have to set it "perfect" from the factory. It's just a marketing gimmick for those who are less experienced casters.
