Dobyns Sierra 734c OR 735c for Football Jigs ?

*I'm on the fence regarding which of the above Dobyns rods to use for 3/8 oz. to 1/2 oz. Football Jigs plus twin tail , craw or chunk trailer using #15 lb. FC line . I fish wide - open reservoirs with expansive flats made up of clay and gravel bottoms .  Football jigs have the lighter hooks (typically) versus pitching or flipping jigs which of course would have heavier grade hooks ... Thanks in advance !

If you are not going more than 1/2 oz I would go with the 734, anything close to an ounce or more would warrant a 5 power in my opinion.

I use the 735c glass. Great rod. My favorite actually. That's all I can tell ya...

735 glass for jigs???

I use a 704 for my lighter 1/4-3/8 oz jigs, anything over I use a 735. It still handles 3/8 great.

Dobyns run on the light side of their powers, have a softer tip and great backbone in my experience.

With a 3.8th oz. football jig + trailer or chunk I will be at 1/2 oz. ; with a 1/2 football jig + trailer or chunk I will be at least 3/4th oz. in total weight . *I tried to extrapolate detail from the Fury and Champion series - however I believe the rod bend points (blanks ?) are different than on the Sierra series ?

I'd go with a 734c.

I have one because it was on sale last year for a steal. I don't throw jigs on it but I think it would be much better than the 735c for the size lures you're using.

734 would do the job and a lot more, very versatile model.

Thanks for the replies !

I’d go for the 735. 734 is a bit softerin the tip, but very versatile rod.
