Unused braided line

Featured Replies

What’s everyone do with the remainder of their braided line after spooling their reel? I buy these 150yard Sufix 832 and have a significant amount left. It would not spool another reel. Seems like a waste. Easy with fluorocarbon because I can use it as leader material.

Keep it around.  There's 1001 uses for it around the house.  Last time I used spare line, I hung a picture frame.

I use braid as a backer filling my spools a touch above a 3rd on most reels with flouro or mono/coploly as a mainline. On reels with flouro as a mainline maybe a bit more than a 3rd. This reduces the tighter coils closer to the arbor that like to jump off.

One reason I never buy 150yd spools is because of the waste. With a 600yd spool, you still get waste but it's only once instead of 4 times you'd have gotten using smaller spools.

Agree.

I use it to eliminate to tie jig skirts, or on jigs and spinnerbaits with those junk silicone bands. Also many uses around the house, buttons on my favorite jacket will never come off. Same for hunting, fishing pants with button closure.

I used it to sew a hole in a pocket in my fishing shorts. Problem is that I don't know how to sew.
