Pinewood Derby Time!!!

Featured Replies

Well, it's pinewood Derby time again for my son and his cub scout pack. Any tips and tricks  you guys want to divulge? Always looking for something new to give us an edge, he hasn't won yet (came in 2nd a couple of years ago) and would really like to take home that 1st place trophy this year .

Make sure you get it weighed and add enough weights  to get to the max weight ( I let my stepson use 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 oz egg weights). I drilled holes to insert the egg weights into the body. Get some dry graphite lubricant for the wheels and polish ( very fine grit sand paper) the axles before you install them. Make sure you have the weighting balanced between the front and back wheels.  Good luck!
