Does anyone use Hi Viz braid without a leader?  IF so, do you color part of the line or just go hi viz all the way to the lure?

I use hi vis yellow on all my spinning rods and currently (may change to straight floro)on my flipping rod. No leaders anymore except in ultra gin clear water. I do usually color the last 3' or so with a sharpie, but not always. I fish pretty dirty coosa river water usually so it works fine for me. I love the yellow for line watching on a senko or ned rig. 

If I ever use a leader is almost never due to visibility. 

Hi Vis yellow or white no leader except in cold clear water.

I'm thinking about trying it on my Ned rig specific setup in the creek this summer. 

I've done it with pink and yellow braid on a wacky rig and topwaters, they eat it just fine.

My cousin likes to use yellow braid and he has caught some very nice bass.

I usually colour it with a green or blue marker but I have used straight yellow braid for senkos and pitching jigs. The thing is yellow is more visible to us but it might not be for bass. I remember reading somewhere that bass may actually see things with a sort of yellow filter to their vision. That would make yellow line LESS visible than if you color it with a marker.

Back when Power Pro cam out with the red line that was supposed to become invisible in two feet of water I conducted my own test. One rod spooled with Hi=Vis yellow, and one spooled with the red line. Both rods were tied directly to identical 1/2 oz jigs with identical trailers. My girlfriend and I fished for an hour and then we swapped rods and fished for another hour. She caught 4 smallies on each color, and I caught 5 each. This was enough proof for me that line color makes no difference at all.

  There are plenty of guys that will argue this but I have never seen it make a difference. Do your own test and I'll bet you get similar results.

One other thing....that red line bled all over a brand new rod and turned the cork PINK for the rest of the season!

My leaders are used for abrasion resistance against rocks as well as the action of certain baits. Some small slow moving bottom baits (example: ned rig) fall much more naturally with a monofilament leader rather than straight braid. Line visibility is the least of my concerns but if it eases your mind by all means use one or color your line with a sharpie.
