Bait

Featured Replies

Do you guys typically buy a certain bait

(Ex: lipless crankbait) from only one certain company (Ex: Strike king red eye shad) or do y’all mix up Brands. What I really mean is do you always stick with the bait you know that works or do you try and mix it up.

thanks.

There are brands that I favor for many lure categories...think we all have our favorites...my two would be strike king and rapala...that said I probably own a dozen different hard bait brands...all that said I wouldn't go without spro aruku shad jr or rebel pop r..better baits out there but I have huge confidence in those

I mix them up sometimes I’ll crush them on a red eye sometimes a ratl Trap. Let the fish tell you what they want.

I buy baits that I think will catch bass. But I try to buy Quality made baits, so brand isn't always a factor.

I have my favorites and try not to go too crazy, but if I see something I like from another company I'm not going to shy away because it isn't from one of my favorite makers.

You HAVE to mix it up! I'll bid on assorted lure lots online to get a variety to try without taking out a second mortgage. Four years ago I won one of those big lots and there was this weird looking bait that went into the "doubtful" bucket and remained there until last June. The bait was a Lindy Shadling. It had very little action and bore no resemblance to an actual fish, but I thought I'd give it a try. 10 minutes later it caught a 33 inch walleye (Yep, I said 33"). We were camped at the lake and the next day it caught two nice pike and an 8 lb largemouth. I never would have bought this bait as an individual purchase and its only by chance I ended up with it  Just goes to show that you never know.

Apparently I'm not the only one who knows. Ive seen these baits bring stupid money on auctions.
