Dobyns 795sbmt

Featured Replies

So I ordered one on the 40% off sale. I tried the search and nothing came up. I’m planing on starting out with some glides maybe a slammer and bull Shad if and when I can find them. I haven’t done much research on this just jumped in cause of the sale. Can anyone tell me about it. Should be a decent stick to dabble.

Awesome rod for the baits you listed. I use mine for 7-9” slammer’s 6-8” bullshads & s-waver 200 the rods sweet spot is about 3oz.

I’ve had one for a few years now. although I don’t do much big bait fishing anymore, this rod is definitely underpowered for Huddleston trout swimbaits. Not sure if you intend on throwing them. The 806 swimbait rod is a much better option for those. I bought my 795 fury before the 806 was available in the fury line.

As for the baits you listed the rod you bought will work fine.

I've got one on the way too and have never thrown a hard body swimbait in all my years of fishing. I'm excited to try it out.

Agreed re: the 806..With the right reel, my old 806 would cast a 6" ROF 5 hudd a country mile, yet I still used it for 8" Hudds too, and some hard swimbaits.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. I don’t have plans for anything big.  I live in mass so we don’t have giant bass, but there are good chances  for 7/8 pounds in a few places.

Did you order it from sportsman outfitters.

Not sure if it makes a difference, I got the champion xp. I would think it should be a step up from the fury.

Not that it makes a difference on baits.

Yes, I did but still haven't received an email confirmation from them, only a Paypal receipt. Hope the order goes through.

Here's a good thread to read with a bunch of guys using the 795.

Oh, I completely understand what's going on too. Did you get a confirmation email from Sportsmans Outfitters direct?

Dang, yeah I ordered it Friday but still haven't seen a confirmation.

I know the promo is over and they were supposedly drop shipping them straight from Dobyns. Hopefully my order goes through.

I ordered Saturday night. And got confirmation right away. I’m assuming they got bombarded with orders. I told three people who all ordered something. So that makes  four just through me. quite a bit on this thread As well. I’m guessing it’s gonna take some time if there running a skeleton crew. Dobyns themselves must have absolutely been crushed with orders on probably a skeleton crew themselves. I think patients is gonna be the name of this game for a while.

I have the Fury version of that and it will handle those named baits just fine. I've thrown the Bull Shads, 4x4, and Gantarel all just fine on the Fury 795. GL and have fun with it. I ordered the 807 during the sale too.

I ordered one from SO as well, on Sunday. I got the confirmation email but nothing else. I heard Dobyn’s was running the 40% off, but I never saw anything on their website in regards to it. Are they drop-shipping them from Dobyns?

From my understanding, yes. Not confirmed though. I also ordered through SO, but on Thursday.

I think everywhere ran the sale. If Dobyns is doing all the shipping there gonna be pumping out orders for weeks.

No, only other online retailer was SO.

Reason I know that is here, another forum and because some people were unhappy about SO offering the sale on the Dobyns FB group. Dobyns was charging shipping and several people were complaining. Not of the shipping but because the sale was originally supposed to be only for members of the FB group. It obviously got leaked elsewhere and I guess SO followed suit putting theirs on sale.

Fortunately if you missed them on SO I believe Dobyns is doing it direct until the 6th. Just give them a call although I think most popular models are long sold out.

Whoever got in on either sale scored big time! Glad it's helping Gary out in times like this.

Rod prices are good, but the 25.00 shipping is tough to swallow..At least for me.

Kind of agree, although I'll be honest, I went the SO route to get free shipping. Still helps Gary, win win. ?
