Looking for a storage alternative

Featured Replies

Hey everyone! A little while back I picked up a plano edge jig box to organize my jigs but then I realized my mistake - I didn't check the size and it doesn't fit in the bag I use! This is the bag I use, and the plano edge jig box is too long to fit in the tackle box compartment. So I'm looking for a bit of advice - either a way to pack the tray so I can still bring it with me, or another 3600 size box that would work well for organizing jigs.

I'd love some input!

Ya - the Edge box in 3600 size only has one variation...the standard setup. All the 'specialty' Edge boxes are 3700 size.

I don't think you'll find a way to get that box in the pack. When I was running with a 3600 bag, I just used 3620 boxes.

Even now with a 3700 size bag...I won't buy the Edge boxes...WAY too expensive for my budget. Prolatch 3700s and 3750s are what I use.

I have a couple of 3600 prolatch boxes too, what I might do is just take what I think I might use and put them in one of those boxes with plastic dividers and use the edge for more bulk storage at home

Here's what my 3600-series boxes looked like loaded (5x3620, 1x3650)

I have one of the smaller backpacks like yours. Open the top and pull out the center divider,as its just velcro in place. If it fits through the opening,ya might be in luck.

This is why I hope Plano makes a 3600 size jig box in the future.

Is this your co-angler bag & you're in a boat or are you bank fishing and you need the back pack to tote stuff while you're hiking?   Ok, if you boat fishing, just get some 3600 size box & fill it up with jigs best you can.  This Plano edge jib box doesn't fit your current needs - probably not the first time you've bought something that didn't work exactly like you thought it would and ABSOLUTELY not the last time it will happen.

If you're bank bound and using the back pack to tote your stuff, I would suggest the skirted jigs are an unnecessary luxury in this situation.   Tx rig jig heads, like a Brewer Slider, are much more effiicient in this situation.  JMO

I'd say, 'Give it time' as that was only the 2nd season of using them...but I've moved all my 'hard' tackle to 3700 series...so those 3600s will probably stay near-pristine.
