So, how'd it go?

I decided to leave the boat at home today and bank fish a local pond. I only took a spinnerbait, chatterbait and a jig. They wanted nothing to do with the first two. But then I threw the jig and caught 4 in a pretty short amount of time.

5 pickerel and 2 bass in about 4 hours. I went to a new place, almost everything I rigged up was to snaggy so I had to make a few changes. Nice day for some shore banging. I lost two tungsten ball heads a weighted hook and sparkshad a wacky setup, and broke another tungsten setup. It was a rough go but caught some fish.

I made my first foray today.  Between a Super Spot, a Shad Rap and a homemade jig, I scored 17 fish.  I tried a small pond in the morning and a gravel pit in the evening.  I also tried a spinnerbait and a shaky head worm but they didn't get me anything.

Almost every fish caught was hooked near the bottom of the main drop off from shoreline, in both places I fished.

That’s a good day.

Best first day of the open water season that I have ever had, hands down! Usually on the first day out I'm just hoping to get a couple to boost confidence a little.
