Curado question

Featured Replies

Which non-dc curado is most similar to the curado dc? I just felt one in my hand at a local shop and it was perfect. Wondering which of the cheaper curados closest compares in hand

The k. Which is the current model in stores.

It’s the black one you see in most stores.

Curado K. Biggest difference besides DC is the 200 size spool on the K VS the 150 on the DC. Shop around and you can find the K for $150 or less.

Direct compare to Curado DC would be Curado K. They are about the same dimension. If curado dc is not too big or too small then you should feel the same with the K. Another good cheap alternative to CURADO DC is shimano SLX DC.

Thanks guys, would the bigger spool on the k make it balance differently then the dc?

No it just holds more line. The reel itself is almost the exact same size. The DC is a hair wider on the handle/gear side probably to fit the DC mechanism. The K is only about .3oz lighter so the balance will be the same.

If you like the feel of the Curado DC than the K is what you want. If you want DC than the SLX DC can be found for the same price you can get a K for. The advantage to the SLX DC over the K is obviously that it has DC. The disadvantage is it lacks X-Ship and the micro module gears that the K has. They're both nice reels but palm differently.

Appreciate the detailed response. I’m looking for the feel of the dc.

Like everyone else said go with the K. I would recommend going with the curado K over the SLX dc. The slx is a good reel but even with dc I think that the curado K is significantly better. I never ever backlash them and they are super easy to dial in as well we being a very well built reel. The curado will last you longer than a slx dc in my opinion and give you that same feel in the hand as a curado dc. The curado dc is a great reel but I don’t think it’s that worth the extra money over the K which is already a perfect reel for that price point. If you want to spend curado dc money get a chronarch mgl.

Thank you. I was looking at the chronarch mgl too, but it felt bulky in my hand compared to the curado

The chronarch is a much smaller reel. It shouldn’t feel bulky at all compared to the Curado.

What can I say? The curado fit like a glove on my rod, the chronarch felt awkward. It may be physically smaller but the shape didn’t sit well in my hand.

Go with the one that you have the most confidence.

Then go and fish the Surekill and let us know what you catch.

Have fun and Go Flyers!

Might want to look at the Curado 70 also. They are on closed out sale right now at TW.
