My friend prefers the stiffer paddle tails because the stiffer tail helps to give the swim jig a rocking motion. Without the Rocking motion imparted by the paddle he would have to shake the rod. He throws bigger swim jigs in the 3/4-1oz range.

 

Do you think the advantages of a stiffer Tail is over stated?  Or do you think the floppy ones like the Keitech. 
 

I haven’t thrown swim jigs enough to notice the difference yet 

The Kalin's sizmic shad is probably the stiffest paddle tail swimbait I have used. Cabela's has a swimbait that BPS now carry's which has a different feel, durable, good colors and you get good value...I forget the name but they come in 3.5& 5", I think  3.99 a bag. Similar to the Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper which I would also consider a stiffer plastic...

I like the Berkley Grass Pig and Grass Pig Jr. I think those may be along the lines of what you're looking for. They are the only paddle tail I like on a chatter bait because to me they appear to have more of a rolling or rocking action as opposed to a wide kicking tail.

I actually have some bought some this winter.  Those will probably work well.  I bought them for spinner baits 

River2sea d-walker is a perfect swim jig trailer. And will last a while, hang them up when u can as to not bend the tail. Great for slow rolling

Keitechs are always good!

Do you cut the heads off flush or just rig it on.  Those seem to have a highly defined head 

I leave the head on them. And i have only used the smaller one. its 4" 

 river2sea makes awesome baits.

The D walker is great, I would use it so much more if it came in a real perch color. The baits you guys have already said all work but I will add 2 more that I have had great success with. The first would be the classic salt shaker, really hard kick and comes in some great colors, and the other being the xzone swammer. The harder thump of stiffer plastics can be great in some situations but don’t overlook the softer ones, every single one of the biggest fish I have caught on a swim jig has been with a keitech as a trailer.

Sounds like you’re over thinking this too much. Pick your favorite paddle tail and be done with it

I use the swammer but I’ve never tried it as a swim jig trailer. Do you find that it’s a stiffer bait? Because I think it has to be one of the softer paddle tails on the market. Not super stiff no but I think it did give the swim jig a little bit more rock than a keitech. It also comes in a really solid perch color which isn’t common in most swimbaits so I really like it.

x2, that perch color is great. If you’re looking for another option look at the Cane Thumper in green pumpkin red ghost. The 4.3” is good for those bigger and heavier swim jigs.

It's called the Swim Minnow. It's my favorite swimbait. On a belly weighted hook, on a swim jig, on a spinner bait, they catch tons of bass. I have caught both my PB Smallmouth and Largemouth on them! They have a great combination of roll, and tail wag.

As far as swimjigs go, I don't use over 3/8oz.

The BPS sells a 4” swim bait called the Reel Scremer” makes for a great swim bait trailer, just enough action, not all over  the place like a Keitech, I rigg them upside down on a chatter bait

I know this is old, but 120mm Dwalker, 5" big EZ, and a bit off 6.5" GZ will wag the dog at those weights.
