Spinning or casting

I have baitcasters that I use for bluegill and spinning reels that are used for 50lb catfish. There is no right or wrong. Catch fish and have fun.

I use BC rods and reels 90% of the time. There is no reason not to use spinners, except stubbornness (at least in my case).

For crankbaits 1/4 ounce and smaller, weightless plastics, split shot rig, and light weight t-rigs I use a spinning reel. Everything else I use a baitcaster.

Lots of folks carry both. Over the years there's been some great fisherman who used spinning reels most of the time. Billy Westmoreland, Tom Mann, Charlie Brewer, and Bill Dance. Today's spinning reels are much better than they were years ago. Smoother, better drags etc. A spinning reel in the right hands, can land a good fish. The old argument about which is really better doesn't hold up anymore.
