Hey guys. I have a few questions on how to fish a jig. I have a kayak and go out pretty often. In so cal the postspawn came so I thought of fishing some jigs. Only thing I know is black and blue for muddy water and greens and natural colors in clear water. I don't know how to fish a jig or where. There is a lot of deep water. I fish fish around 20 feet or less. Any tips on how to fish?

Thanks for the thread. Quick question. I fish a clear water lake. I fish 20 feet. Does anyone think a green and red and orange color jig will work. I heard that there is no such thing as a bass not being able to see it's food in any color water.

Generally I’ll start fishing them slow and then if I’m not getting bit then I will start getting more aggressive 

The predominate crawdad in SoCal lakes is the southern swamp crawdad. 

Colors that work here are brown/purple and brown/ green pumpkin. Black and blue is ok at night.

Post spawn IMO isn't prime jig time, pre spawn was. The reason is crawdads burrow in clay during winter and emerge during pre spawn, the bass are targeting the abundant food source. This doesn't mean jigs don't work, the strikes are reduced greatly.

My suggestion is start with a simple 3/8 & 1/2 oz football jig with soft plastic trailer like GYCB jigs with Hula grubs or Cowboys. GY BC color 221 cinnamon purple flake,330 GP w/copper and Berkley Chigger Craw green pumpkin black flake.
