BayouSlide
Buzzbaits were apparently on the menu at Chicot yesterday, as well. Caught this 4 1/4 pounder at the end of my day when I started throwing a buzz toad.

Place is tough Managed that one on calcasieu last time I fished it on the buzzbait
BayouSlide
Seems like everyplace I like to fish in South Louisiana is tough and sees a lot of fishing pressure. But that's part of the fun for me, trying to beat the odds and grind out a fish. That bass was my one solid bite for the day and it came at day's end. Besides, if the bass don't cooperate, there's always the possibility of a hooking up with a chain pickerel...where else in Louisiana can you run into that? ?

I caught one last time I fished chicot on a spinnerbait. I didn't even know they were in there lol. Come on down to calcasieu. Place is definitely a challenge

BayouSlide
Being retired, I normally skip weekends and the resulting crowds...but COVID has changed that picture to "crowded every day of the week" But yesterday I had a chance to study areas where fish weren't and presentations that don't work at Chicot ? One bass followed a chatterbait right to the boat and another bit a leg off the buzz toad: I think they were just having fun at my expense. ?
airborneduckhunter
Vernon Parish here so Vernon Lake, Anacoco Lake, Bundick Lake and Toledo are my usual spots. I do venture out to Kincaid Lake one or two times a year. Only fishing I have done south of that is Big Lake chasing trout and reds.

kingmotorboat
Someone advised me to.pitch a 1/2 oz last night to get more reaction bites Said no different than pitching a 1/3 oz jig just less bulky. Never thought of it that way

Question what's your thoughts on a 1/2 oz t rig in wood in water with less than a foot of visibility, too fast or will water displacement do its thing? You know I highly value your opinion man

My Texas Rigs are 1/8-3/8 oz, the only time I go heavier is on a Carolina Rig or Punch Rig. To me a Punch Rig is a Texas Rig on steroids! Off colored water I like plastics that move a lot of water like Rage Tail.
kingmotorboat
I'm just kinda stuck.on finding the right rate of fall and the right weight to accurately pitch, and the right weight for 4 foot of water lol
airborneduckhunter
On 6/11/2020 at 4:56 AM, Catt said: Can you give a report on each? ? Well, Vernon as been full since about March. I have fished it a few times but have been struggling and the only thing i can think of is now that it is full, the fish are spreading out to the old haunts from before the drawdown. Lots of underwater/flooded vegetation now. I catch a few when I go but not like before. I haven't fished Anacoco but a few times this year and it seems about average overall. I don't fish it enough to give a good report. Bundick is finicky. Plenty of fish and water is usually nice, just stumpy and shallow overall. Deep spots toward the south end and along the creek channels. I have really been fishing Toledo more this year than I ever have before. Been doing well overall and always learning. Hopefully one day I will figure out the Carolina Rig.
